@Anonymous: The anti-gliadin antibodies are considered positive when they're in the equivocal range. Of course I would need to know some more about your health history, symptoms, etc, to make sure the results add up to your health profile, but at 17.8 it's suspicious of gluten sensitivity.

For the past almost 2 years I have experienced digestive issues (bloating, stomach upset/discomfort, gas, irregularity), headaches off and on, chronic fatigue, random achiness, RUQ pain specific to one spot . I finally decided I needed to find out what was going on and saw my doc. Because of the location of my RUQ pain and family history of bad gallbladders she suspected that was my problem. However ultrasound and HIDA scan were normal. Therefore she referred me to the gastroenterologist. The GI doc wanted to run bloodwork for celiac as well as do an endoscopy. My bloodwork came back as follows:

IgA = 221 mg/dL (ref range 70-400 mg/dL)
Tissue Transglutaminase Ab IgA = 1.5 units/ml (ref range <4 (negative))
Tissue Transglutaminase Ab IgG = 19.2 units/ml (ref range <6 (negative))

The GI doc said that based on this result she was pretty sure I had Celiac disease, but 'gold standard' diagnosis was a small intestine biopsy which she would perform during my scope.

Biopsy came back 100% healthy and normal.

However, she said based on my symptoms and positive blood test I should still go strictly gluten-free as if I have celiac disease. She said the TTG-IgG would not be elevated unless I had celiac. However in my own reading and researching I'm not so sure that's the case. Esp with a neg biopsy, which she said may be because we have caught it in the early stages or I had damage in unbiopsied areas of my small intestine.

I just want to make sure some other autoimmune disease isn't going on...my doc says she didn't think so. I've had thyroid blood work done, liver enzymes. All normal.

Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.
